23 May – 1 June 2022 • Tel Aviv, Israel

In May 2022, Tel Aviv will see the launch of the first “Chamber Classic” International Chamber Competition for piano trio. This inaugural edition will mark the first time that Israel has ever hosted a competition of such magnitude for these instruments, with a distinguished international jury panel being invited to judge the contestants, and a total prize fund of €60,000 being awarded to the top three participants.

This competition is also notable for its lack of entry restrictions, with the only rule being that the combined age of the members of the piano trio cannot exceed 120 years as of 23rd May 2022. This will ensure that musicians of all ages will be able apply and come to perform, guaranteeing the convergence of some of the finest musicians of the day on Tel Aviv, as chamber ensembles will be invited to exhibit their skill in a series of rounds designed to test all facets of their musical ability.

The 2022 “Chamber Classic” International Chamber Competition for piano trio is being organised by the Malta-based European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC), a non-profit organisation which, along with its President, Konstantin Ishkhanov, works to promote cultural and educational engagement around the world via a range of projects including concerts, masterclasses, conferences, competitions and festivals.

Dear friends,

Allow me to formally welcome you to the “Chamber Classic” International Chamber Competition 2022 organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC).

Scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv, Israel, this event will provide a forum for friendly competition and the exchanging of knowledge as chamber ensembles from across the globe compete in a series of rounds designed to test their musicianship, ensemble skills and technical ability.

This inaugural event marks an important milestone in the work of the Foundation as it expands its remit into competitive chamber music events, providing a valuable platform by which to support the career development of smaller ensembles and provide significant new performance opportunities.

The mission of the EUFSC is to conserve and maintain the great traditions of Western classical music, to benefit audiences through the organising of large and small-scale performances and to provide guidance and support to talented young musicians. Through this new chamber competition we hope to play a vital role in supporting this much-loved area of music, and I know I speak for everyone at the Foundation when I say how much we are looking forward to the event.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with a prestigious group of highly respected and experienced professors from around the world in organising this event, and who I am sure will provide significant and beneficial insights to the competitors as well as important guidance to these ensembles.

I would like to thank our audiences in advance for their continued support and to the participants I wish you all the very best of luck and success in the competition. See you in Tel Aviv!

With best regards and respect,
Mr. Konstantin Ishkhanov
President of European Foundation for Support of Culture
