Second Day of ICCF 2026 Sees First Set of Masterclass Sessions Taking Place
The second day of the 2026 International Chamber Classics Festival was focused entirely on in-depth artistic work, as participants, including young cellists Liev Kerbel and Mikayel Voskanyan, engaged in a full day of masterclasses at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in the Belgian capital of Brussels.
Taking place across two sessions across the morning and afternoon, the masterclasses, led by renowned German cellist Claudio Bohórquez, provided young practitioners of the instrument with the opportunity to work closely with one of today’s leading performers and pedagogues. The focused format allowed for detailed exploration of both technical and interpretative aspects of the repertoire, with Bohórquez offering individualised guidance tailored to each participant.
Throughout the sessions, Bohórquez’s approach reflected the festival’s wider ethos of transmitting the wealth of knowledge gained from years of experience through direct engagement with the younger generation. The intimate setting of the Chapel provided the perfect backdrop, as Bohórquez shared insights from his professional life, offering participants a perspective that extends beyond the classroom.
As the festival progresses, the work undertaken in these sessions will continue to shape the music heard on stage by these young students in the years to come, with many more classes set to be held over the coming few days.
