Dutch pianist and recent International Chamber Music Festival participant Nikola Meeuwsen has won First Prize at the 2025 Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition. His victory highlights both his exceptional talent and the high caliber of artists emerging from the festival’s masterclasses.
We are thrilled to share extraordinary news from the international music world: Nikola Meeuwsen, a participant in the most recent International Chamber Music Festival masterclasses, has been awarded First Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2025.
At just 23 years old, the Dutch pianist triumphed after a month of intense performances and artistic excellence, culminating in the final round held at Bozar in Brussels. The results were announced by jury president Gilles Ledure, with Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Princess Eléonore in attendance to present the awards.
Meeuwsen, who received a €25,000 prize, is currently studying with Enrico Pace and Marlies van Gent at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola, as well as with Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. He already enjoys an impressive performance record, including solo, chamber, and orchestral engagements across Europe.
Nikola’s success is a proud moment for our festival and a testament to the world-class mentorship and performance opportunities we strive to offer. His achievement follows in the footsteps of many artists who have grown within our musical community.
We congratulate Nikola on this major milestone and look forward to witnessing his continued ascent on the world stage!
