Claudio Bohórquez Returns as Professor at ICCF 2026
The International Chamber Classics Festival is set to welcome back renowned cellist Claudio Bohórquez as a professor for its 2026 edition, reaffirming the festival’s commitment to excellence in musical education and performance.
German-born and of Peruvian-Uruguayan descent, Bohórquez is widely regarded as one of the leading cellists of his generation. A student of Boris Pergamenschikow, he achieved early international recognition through major competition successes, including the Tschaikovsky Youth Competition in Moscow and the Rostropovich Cello Competition in Paris. His breakthrough came in 2000 at the International Pablo Casals Competition, where he received first prize, a special award for chamber music, and the rare honor of performing on Pablo Casals’ historic Gofriller cello.
Alongside his distinguished solo career, Bohórquez has built a strong reputation as a pedagogue. Having previously held professorships at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, he continues to shape the next generation of musicians through his teaching and mentorship.
His return to ICCF offers young artists a unique opportunity to work closely with a musician who has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, collaborating with distinguished conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Christoph Eschenbach.
As part of the ICCF 2026 faculty, Claudio Bohórquez will lead masterclasses focused on both technical refinement and artistic development, offering participants invaluable insight drawn from his extensive international career.
