Artistic Director David Abrahamyan Reflects on the Inspiring Vision Behind the ICCF Festival
Scheduled for May 2025, the inaugural International Chamber Classics Festival (ICCF), organised by the CMDI (Classical Music Development Initiative) Group in partnership with the illustrious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel of Brussels with Konstantin Ishkhanov and David Abrahamyan at the helm, is poised to be a dazzling affair.
Held in the historic Belgian capital of Brussels, the International Chamber Classics Festival, presided by Konstantin Ishkhanov, is a week-long celebration bringing together some of the world’s most distinguished musicians alongside rising stars dedicated to the art of chamber music. Attendees can look forward to a series of exceptional events, including masterclasses led by esteemed professors and enchanting evening concerts, all designed to offer musicians and audiences an immersive experience that elevates artistic brilliance and showcases the captivating essence of chamber music.
The mastermind behind this iconic festival is none other than David Abrahamyan, a virtuoso who serves as the Artistic Director of ICCF. With a long list of accolades, Abrahamyan has played in festivals all over the world, such as the David Oistrakh Festival, Pharos Trust, Lincoln Share Festival and the Orpheus-Bacchus Festival, among others, alongside playing concerts and giving masterclasses in the US, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Italy and Austria.
Expressing his excitement for the festival, Abrahamyan commented, ''The vision is always to maintain the highest possible level of artistic excellence in combination with the crucial aspect — certainly for me at least — of educational distinction. My initial dream was to inspire young future players, students, and institutions, to connect the great masters of our time with the stars of the future, and to do all that in wonderful and historical locations like the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. It is a wonderful honour, and to see young players get the opportunity of making music with great maestros like Claudio Bohorquez or Yossif Ivanov is always a very inspiring experience, both for us and for them, and it will help to motivate them to improve and grow as musicians.''
