2026 International Chamber Classics Festival Opens in Brussels with Special Concert Featuring Professors and Students
The International Chamber Classics Festival 2026 launched on Tuesday, 28th April, with a special opening day that saw the first of the festival’s public chamber concerts being held at the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels, Belgium.
Bringing together members of the distinguished festival faculty alongside selected participants, the event offered audiences an insight into the collaborative spirit that defines ICCF, ahead of the start of the festival’s series of masterclasses on April 29th..
Indeed, the concert featured an international line-up that included such names as German cellist Claudio Bohórquez, Bulgarian violinist Yossif Ivanov, Italian pianists Giuliano Mazzoccante and Enrico Pace, and American violist Matthew McDowell, who were joined on stage by selected students from the festival cohort. This integration of emerging and established musicians set the tone for the days ahead, highlighting ICCF’s emphasis on chamber performances and artistic exchange across generations.
The programme for this performance, meanwhile, included Robert Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 47, a cornerstone of the chamber repertoire, as well as César Franck’s Piano Quintet in F minor, a celebrated work that is renowned for its intensity and rich ensemble writing.
With this launch event behind us, professors and students alike are now turning their attention to the courses and masterclasses that lie ahead, with attendees looking to improve their skillset in the art of chamber music in what will be essential step along their journey towards becoming professional musicians.
